Woolgather is not your every-day average rock band from Texas. If ever a band with such a promising and unique sound has taken all that they possibly could, from blood and sweat, time and money, love and loneliness, and poured it into each surreal note played and each emotion tugged, Woolgather is the one. While it’s impossible to compare them directly to any one band, Woolgather would seemingly share the stage with the likes of bands such as Dredg, Thrice, Isis, Mogwai, or the U.K.’s Biffy Clyro.
As high school friends and band mates, since the early age of 16, Casey (vocals, guitar) and Matt (drums) began playing in downtown Austin, TX at small rock venues such as the Vibe in their first band, Lost. Prior to that, they released a 13 song album entitled “Imbrium,” (Latin for “of rain”) recorded in Amarillo, TX. The band sold nearly 400 copies at school alone. Slowly, though, other members of Lost slowly began to fade away, going their own separate directions away from music, leaving Matt and Casey to themselves with hundreds of fans all over the area. By the time the two graduated high school, they had recruited a bass player and Casey assumed the role of lead guitarist and vocalist, dubbing the band “Inbliss” in 2004. While these were considered “the dark years” for the band, by 2006 (after the recording of the “Disenchantment EP”) all members again left Casey and Matt putting the pieces of the band back together. By complete accident, Toby (keyboards) came into the picture. Immediately auditioned, he instantly clicked and brought a new element and a new creative mind to the band that for so many years they had been searching for. The name Woolgather shed it’s light and took it’s grip on these three musicians, and they haven’t looked back since.
Now in 2008, Woolgather has played throughout Austin, San Marcos, and Corpus Christi Texas with an array of brand new mind-blowing songs that leave the audience in a state of bliss, with their ears wide open waiting for more. With a new full-length album in the works, Woolgather plans to make 2008 the year they get the exposure and audience that is so well deserved. Keep yours eyes and ears open, for Woolgather is coming and there is nothing standing in their way. Dream is destiny.
